The process of exploring the emotions within me and understanding those held by others has led me on a long and wonderful journey. Although a lifelong untrained sketch artist, it wasnt until the twilight of my military career that I discovered printmaking at a local university. The process of interpreting scale and form coupled with the experience of carving wood into images continues to compel and challenge me. Over the years, that process has led me from woodcuts to screen-printing and various experimental processes on paper. Attempting to capture the raw emotion of my fellow humans fills me with a sense of awe and humility, and has proven to be a satisfying way for me to translate my own emotions into visual ideas and physical reality.
I print both what I see, what I feel and have experiencedI work deliberately, usually within the confines of a process but have recently added innovative techniques to my work, My prints are finished when they are able to convey an element of human understanding regarding a place or moment in time.
